Main Street Events News - What's Happening? MAIN STREET EVENTS TO USE WEB FOR INCREASED ACCESSIBILITY Web-based volunteer registration, MySpace and facebook information created Greenville, SC: Main Street Events, Inc. a Greenville-based festival and event Production Company has announced the creation of three new avenues that will increase accessibility for volunteers and event-goers. A web-based registration program will streamline the process for volunteers, while popular websites now have event information available for a wider base of the community. MSE has customized a program through “Volgistics” which will allow potential volunteers for any event to register on-line. This process provides the ability for MSE to collect pertinent information, in a protected environment, match volunteers with specific jobs at specific events, and allow more participation from groups, along with the ability to have real time communication with workers as it relates to event update and specific needs for the events. A big advantage will be seen at events such as St. Francis Fall for Greenville and AT&T Red, White and Blue. The coordination of large numbers of volunteers can be accessed via computer, assignments confirmed, on-site adjustments for areas of greatest need, and record-keeping for reconciliation purposes at the end of the events. The program is available on the Main Street Events, Inc. website (www.mainstevents.com) by clicking on “Volunteer Opportunities” at the top of each page. Once the volunteer is registered, they will have access to the private database information via an individual password that is available through the www.mainstevents.com site. “We are excited about the addition of this cutting-edge program that will make the participation process easy for volunteers to give their valuable time at our events”, stated Byron K. Rucker, Executive Director of Main Street Events, Inc. “Volunteers are extremely important to the success of any event, and the ability to setup our processes was an immediate need for us. Elane Fleming, our Volunteer Services Coordinator, works with approximately 5,000 volunteers each year, and the coordination will be streamlined for all of our events.” MySpace.com facebook.com: “As we looked at our marketing ability for each of the events, we discovered that both MySpace and facebook would allow us the opportunity to be in front of a new group of potential event-goers,” Rucker commented. “We have also realized that a high majority of bands and entertainers are spending a great deal of time on both sites promoting themselves, which gives us a prime viewing of the level of entertainment we are booking, along with bands in a similar genre. The internet has changed the way organizations do business on a daily basis, and we really see the benefits of this move on many levels. If we are to grow the base of patrons for our events, we have to be accessible and progressive with our distribution of event information.”
