.

Greenville, SC:  Main Street Events, Inc. a Greenville-based festival and event Production Company has announced the creation of B&B DEVELOPMENT DOWNTOWN SOUNDS, presented by the Anderson Independent Mail”, a weekly music event to be held in Downtown Anderson, SC.  The first event is scheduled for April 5th, and will continue through August (with the exception of July 5th) to complete a 21-week schedule.

“Timing is everything, and the timing is right in Anderson,” stated Byron K. Rucker, Executive Director of Main Street Events.  “We received strong interest from the Leadership Anderson group (through the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce) who were looking to make an impact on the downtown area, with a desire to generate more traffic and excitement.  We have seen great success with this type of any event and felt that the partnership would be a huge step in the right direction.  Our goal is to work with the local business and governmental entities to draw new interest in the downtown area and to provide an event that will add a quality of life element to Anderson residents.  What a better way to accomplish our goals than with a relaxed atmosphere, great entertainment, and a safe environment for everyone to enjoy.”

“Downtown Sounds” will be the first event of its kind in Anderson, and will be staged on the plaza in front of the new Anderson County Courthouse from 5:30-9:30pm each Thursday evening from April 5th through August 30th.    B&B Development, creators and builders for the Chiquola Condos have agreed to terms as the title sponsor of the event.  Bill Marcie, principal for B&B Development is responsible for the re-vitalization of the Chiquola Hotel that is adjacent to the event site, and is committed to the Downtown Anderson re-development trend.  “We see this event as a strong drawing card for the re-development future of Downtown Anderson, and we made it known that B&B wanted to be the leader in those efforts”, stated Bill Marcie.  “The partnership with Main Street Events in bringing a proven entertainment offering to Anderson is exciting for our company and I see this as a beginning of a new trend in Anderson, just as our development efforts will contribute to the future success of business in the downtown area.”

Downtown Sounds is owned and operated by Main Street Events, but will be supported by the City of Anderson and Anderson County.  The full slate of entertainment has also been contracted (see attached schedule) and will include a variety of music, from oldies, beach, blues, soul, southern rock, and jazz.  The entertainment acts will come from the local region (Greenville, Asheville, Charleston, etc.) and from as far away as Australia.  MSE organizes all elements of the event, including entertainment, volunteers, marketing, finance and operations.  The entire schedule (including bios and web links), corporate partners listing, and event details are available on the Main Street Events website, located at www.mainstevents.com.

The Anderson Independent Mail has agreed to serve as a presenting sponsor, and will be joined in support of the event by Sullivan’s Metropolitan Grill, Budweiser, Ben Arnold Sunbelt Beverage (including a partnership with Biltmore Estates Winery), MY102.5 (WMYI-FM), Coop’s Health and Fitness, the City of Anderson, Anderson County and the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce.  Other corporate partners are in on-going discussions to join the event, and additional corporate partners are welcomed.
