Main Street Events News - What's Happening this Month?

TLC LASER EYE CENTERS DOWNTOWN ALIVE KICKS OFF

Greenville, SC:  Main Street Events, Inc. a Greenville-based festival and event Production Company has announced the start of the 20th ANNUAL TLC LASER EYE CENTERS DOWNTOWN ALIVE music series in Downtown Greenville, located in Piazza Bergamo just off Main Street.  The series will be held on Thursday evenings from 5:30-8:30pm beginning on March 29th and continue through September 6th.  The full slate of entertainment and sponsors were also announced at the press conference on Thursday morning.

The full slate of entertainment, along with web links to performer’s sites is available by visiting (http://www.mainstevents.com/downtownalive.html) located on the Main Street Events website.  Local favorite RetroVertigo will kick off the season that includes rock, blues, funk, and much more.  The list of bands includes 18 new bands that did not perform at DTA in 2006.

WHAT’S NEW FOR 2007:
* Tickets ($1.00 each) that are purchased for DTA (which are used as currency for beverage sales) will be good for that entire month.  In the past, tickets were only good for the night that they were purchased.  Each month, new tickets will be available for that month.

* Credit cards will be accepted to purchase tickets.  A minimum purchase of $10.00 is required.  This will be the first time that credit cards are accepted at an outside event.

“TLC LASER EYE CENTERS DOWNTOWN ALIVE” has been a mainstay on Main Street in Greenville since 1988, was created to provide a prelude and attraction for patrons to visit downtown businesses.  The weekly music series features a wide variety of music including Southern Rock, Blues, Funk, Blue Grass and Independent Rock from around the country.  The Metropolitan Arts Council has singed a three-year extension to the management contract with Main Street Events, Inc. which will extend through the 2009 event.  MSE organizes all elements of the event, including entertainment, volunteers, marketing, finance and operations.

Main Street Events, Inc. owns and operates Countybank Main Street Jazz, AT&T Red, White and Blue, B&B Development Downtown Sounds (Anderson, SC), as well as The Greenville News Shaggin on Augusta.  MSE has management contracts with St. Francis Fall for Greenville, Artisphere International Arts Festival, TLC Laser Eye Centers Downtown Alive, USA Professional Cycling Championships, Wheels for Meals Cycling Fundraiser, and the BMW Charity Pro-AM at the Cliffs.  MSE is also engaged in consulting roles with other markets throughout the eastern part of the U.S.
