B&B DEVELOPMENT SHOWS COMMITMENT TO DOWNTOWN ANDERSON
Title sponsor of B&B Development Downtown Sounds extends deal through 2010

Greenville, SC:  Main Street Events, Inc. a Greenville-based festival and event Production Company has announced that B&B DEVELOPMENT has agreed to a three (3) year extension as title sponsor of the weekly music event to be held in Downtown Anderson, SC.  The inaugural edition of the 21-week schedule comes to a close on Thursday, August 30th.  The agreement will secure B&B Development as top corporate partnership position through 2010.

“We have been very happy with the start of a great event in Anderson over the past 21 weeks, and our relationship with B&B Development has been a huge part of our success,” stated Byron K. Rucker, Executive Director of Main Street Events.  “We have established Downtown Sounds as the place to be each week in downtown Anderson, and we see only positive growth for the event as we move forward.  The lineup of bands has been extremely strong, and the participation of strong corporate partners has been very encouraging, especially for a first-time event.  As the citizens of Anderson and the upstate learn more about the event, this will be the place to be for first-class family entertainment, convenient shopping and enticing restaurant options – it will be cool to be in downtown Anderson.  The interest and commitment from both the City and County has been extraordinary and very welcomed.”

“Downtown Sounds” is the first event of its kind in Anderson, and will be staged on the plaza in front of the new Anderson County Courthouse each Thursday evening from April through August.    Bill Marcie, principal for B&B Development is responsible for the re-vitalization of the Chiquola Hotel that is adjacent to the event site, and is committed to the Downtown Anderson re-development trend.  “We have seen a difference in the downtown area during these past few months and strongly believe that Downtown Sounds has been a big part of the change,” stated Bill Marcie.  “As we continue to develop projects in the Main Street area, we want to make sure that we are seen as a leader.  By associating our brand with this weekly event, we feel that more and more business owners will see the benefits of the drawing power that is possible, and join us in building a better Anderson.”

The Anderson Independent-Mail has also committed to a second year as presenting sponsor as the exclusive print media partner.  “We have enjoyed our relationship with Butch Hughes and the staff at the Anderson Independent-Mail,” commented Rucker.  “Their professional business operations and promotional abilities have been a tremendous support for this first year event.  We wanted to align ourselves with the best organizations in Anderson, and they really fill that role for us.”

Downtown Sounds is owned and operated by Main Street Events, but will be supported by the City of Anderson and Anderson County.  All aspects of this year’s event will be evaluated for pros and cons and developing a plan that will make it strong for the future.
