5:30-8:30pm - The Shane Pruit Band, featuring Anderson's own Miss Wanda Johnson

An extraordinary bluesman is raised in the suburbs;  in the shadow of a Wal-Mart store...  A youngster learns the depth and breadth of the blues without leaving his house...  Living in Spartanburg, South Carolina,  his style mimics neither the sprightly,  acoustic - based Piedmont blues indigenous to his region nor the all- influential Texas sounds of the late Stevie Ray Vaughan...  A gentle and shy young man becomes a FEROCIOUS and animated axe king the second he hits the stage...

However, that's all background material.  None of it would matter if Shane Pruitt couldn't play.  But, he plays mightily.  Tinsley Ellis calls him a "young Buddy Guy".   Patrick Vining says, "It won't be long until every blues fan in America knows Pruitt's name".  And it's not just musicians who are raving :  Peter Cooper,  music critic for the Nashville Tennessean,  names Pruitt as "the most exciting young bluesman working today".

Wanda Johnson, a natural-born singer and entertainer, hails from a large family (born, 1963; one of nine children...all girls!) in a farming community in upstate South Carolina. She has lived with music all her life. Performing semi-pro since the early 1990s, Wanda is quickly gaining notoriety as a new star on the national scene. She sings with conviction and great emotion and has become known for her ability to really connect with an audience. With three European tours under her belt and two CDs in worldwide distribution ("Call Me Miss Wanda" and "Natural Resource", released 2006), Wanda Johnson's story has just begun.
